Comparative data
on fuel consumption have been compiled over a four-years long test in two power plants
(COOSUR and OLCESA) with Diesel engines running on fuel oil (each plant
with two Wärtsilä engines with an output of 10.5 MWhe each engine , that
means 20.5 MWhe each plant). These data prove that specific consumption of fuel oil per KWhe
produced has decreased by 3.1 % on average when treating Fuel Oil
No. 1 with the additive “rb bertomeu” beco F1/ASF.
Both plants were monitored over extensive periods:
a)
Period without additive treatment of the fuel oil :
18 months – 2 years
b)
Period with additive treatment”rb bertomeu”
beco F1/ASF: 2 years and
6
months
The
figure of the reduction of 3.1% (6.4g of fuel per KWhe) corresponds to the average for both plants,
whose figures for savings differ (1.61% and 4.60 % respectively). These
differences, taken in combination with the different situations of prior
adjustment of the installations and other collateral data (e.g., the
quantity of fuel sludge generated, previous data on savings, etc.), enable
us to identify and quantify the main causes of the average saving provided
by the action of the additive:
Saving due to reduced fuel oil
sludge
= 0.45%
Saving due to improved combustion of the fuel oil
= 1.15%
Overall saving due to other factors (*)
= 1.50%
TOTAL = 3.10%
(*) Reduced wear
on nozzles and injection pumps.
Reduced
accumulated residues in turbo-compressors.
